Meet the Team

Dr. Mahmood is the owner and founder of Mountainside Pediatrics. He is the First Pediatrician of Pickens County and started his pediatric practice in Oct. 1999. He has been on the faculty of Augusta Medical School, Mercer School of Medicine, Emory University and Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine as Associate Professor of Pediatrics since 2000. Teaching Pediatrics is his passion and has been actively involved teaching Medical, PA students and NP students since 1999.

He believes good communication between Parents and Pediatrician is vital for the optimum care of the child. He always welcomes and encourages questions from parents and believes it is his job to answer all questions concerning their child.

He enjoys all aspects of pediatric care, and has a special interest in newborns, developmental delays, autism spectrum disorder ADD/ADHD, Adolescent Medicine and Asthma.

Dr. Mahmood has also completed the REACH program Fellowship in Mental health disorders for primary care providers in 2022.

Dr. Mahmood believes that children are not simply small adults and must be approached with an appreciation for their stage of physical and mental development.

As a Nurse Practitioner with over 28 years of experience in the healthcare field, I am fully dedicated to helping children attain the best health possible. My various jobs in healthcare over the years, including working at major healthcare systems in Chicago Illinois, Ann Arbor Michigan and then here in the Atlanta area, have enriched my knowledge, made me highly versatile and offered me comprehensive understanding of child health issues. Having two children of my own, I understand how paramount it is to keep your little ones healthy, not just physically but mentally as well. This parental instinct intensifies my professional commitment towards improving children's health and advocating for them whenever and wherever needed.  Whether it’s addressing their immediate medical needs, guiding them in maintaining a healthy lifestyle or teaching them about prevention, my primary goal is to make a lasting impact on the child’s well-being.

Asifa has served as Practice Manager of Mountainside Pediatrics since it's inception. She is an invaluable and integral part of every service to our patient families and staff. She is Masters in Chemistry with extensive undergrad in Zoology, Botany & Chemistry. Having some teaching experience, then she earned her CPPM (certified Pediatrics practice Manager), she is revising the practice daily to meet the ever changing needs in the healthcare industry. She is the mother of 3 boys which keeps her as busy at home as she is in the office in her career in health care. Her favorite pastime outside the office is traveling, cooking and entertaining on a big scale.

Janice is a Certified Medical Assistant and has been working in Pediatrics for over 3 years. She is a graduate of Chattahoochee Technical College. Janice has been married over 11 years, has a daughter, son in law and granddaughter. When not working she enjoys spending time with her family and has a passion for animals.

Ashley is a Certified Nursing Assistant, Certified Medication Technician, and Medical Assistant and has been working in Pediatrics for over 6 months. She previously worked with our local Nursing Homes and Assisted Living Centers. Ashley is married and has a daughter and 2 sons. When not working she enjoys spending time with her family and working on crafts.
